Gay Christmas came early to Brooklyn last Wednesday night, and of course, our beloved queer icons showed out.
On October 28, comedian Julio Torres and Disco Nap brought The Cursed Amulet back to Elsewhere for its third annual Halloween celebration. The party welcomed a colorful crowd of comedians, performers, and influencers, all ready to embrace the madness of spooky season.
Torres’s longtime collaborator, Lauren Mandel of Disco Nap, produced the yearly extravaganza, which transformed Elsewhere into a world of childhood wonder and nightmares, where elaborate costumes took center stage. The evening featured a costume competition judged by Caleb Hearon, Patti Harrison, Miss Peppermint, Martine Gutierrez, and NYC Council Member Chi Ossé, with “Halloween SpongeBob” and “Lesbian Aunts from the Grinch” taking home the night’s coveted Cursed Amulet prizes. Guests also danced to sets from DJs including Leland, Ushka, Swimmie, LOKA, and JD Samson.
