Sophia Bush is taking control of her own narrative. The One Tree Hill alum recently shared that she’s written a book, And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes From a Life in Progress, in which she opens up about various aspects of her life and career.

“This book is a collection of stories and moments from my life, the journey I’ve been on on screen and off, lessons I’ve learned, what it’s all meant to me—including some of my most precious takeaways,” she said in a video for CBS Mornings. “I’m so excited to share this with the world and for all of you to read it. I hope you love it.”

Bush is no stranger to opening up about her life experiences. In April 2024, she confirmed rumors that she was in a relationship with soccer star Ashlyn Harris and officially came out as queer at 41 years old. Prior to that, she and a number of other female cast and crew members opened up about ongoing harassment they allegedly experienced from One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn during the run of the hit WB show.

Her upcoming book promises more insight into the decades she’s spent in the spotlight as well as the more private moments in between. The description from Macmillan Publishers alludes to her tumultuous time working on Chicago P.D. (“where a dream job forced her into two lives—a badge-wearing protector in one, and a woman in need of protecting in the other”) while also promising a look at the “side of [Bush] that’s not often seen: the curious, human, laugh-out-loud funny Sophia, who boldly defies demands that she stay in her lane instead of pursuing activism.”

Fans and friends alike celebrated the publication announcement with Bush via Instagram, where comments rolled in from former One Tree Hill co-stars like Bethany Joy Lenz, Kate Voegele, and Michaela McManus.

“Congratulations my love,” Harris chimed in. “So proud of you.”

One fan, meanwhile, spoke for queer women everywhere: “please say there’s an audiobook. your voice is legit the most calming on the planet.”

Last month, it was announced that Bush would join Lindsay Lohan, Shailene Woodley, and Kit Harington in the upcoming Hulu adaptation, Count My Lies. Prior to that, she appeared in a recurring role on Grey’s Anatomy

As for And I Will Tell You Mine, anyone anxious to get their hands on a copy will have to wait until its October 26 publication date, although the book is currently available for pre-order.
