Kehlani‘s highly-anticipated mixtape While We Wait 2 dropped on Wednesday, five years after her album While We Wait was released.
The R&B project was teased last week, when Kehlani shared a flick of herself in front of a WWW2 themed cake, licking frosting off her fingers. The full track list was shared at the bottom of the screen.
The 14-track album includes “When He’s Not There,” a pre-released single featuring Lucky Daye. Kehlani last collaborated with Lucky Daye on her 2020 album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. The mixtape also features kwn, Lil’ Mo, Vince Staples, DESTIN CONRAD, Childofnines, DIXSON, FLO, and LUDMILLA.
Kehlani shared her favorite tracks off the mixtape in an Instagram post Wednesday. The 29 year old listed “Clothes Off” featuring kwn, “Border,” “Around,” and “Let Me Down (San Diego Interlude).”
They detailed the “breezy” recording process of While We Wait 2, saying it came from true feelings in the moment and wasn’t clouded by judgment.
“[W]e made this tape in my back house in two weeks with all people [I] really dearly love,” the wrote in the Instagram caption. “[I]t was a breezy process and nobody thought hard. [J]ust some feelings in 90 degree weather.”
“[M]eans a lot to continue this feeling from WWW1,” they continued.
Fans are already popping off on social media, calling the mixtape a “masterpiece” and sharing which song made them the most emotional (spoiler alert: it’s a lot of them).

While We Wait 2 marks Kehlani’s second full-length release of the year. It follows CRASH, her 13-track album released in June.
Kehlani is ramping up for her CRASH World Tour, which kicks off in September in Minneapolis. The North American leg of her tour will conclude in November in San Francisco. FLO and Anycia will join as special guests.
