Workin’ It 2010

45 of 2010’s Red Hot Entrepreneurs

A versatile creative director, editor and adjunct professor of conceptual art and video at Parsons The New School for Design, Joan Raspo offers her experience in media strategy, production, and post VFX to top-tier agencies. Currently Raspo is consulting with e•Motion Studios in San Francisco and leading branding projects for clients like HP, Adobe and NVIDIA. Before striking out on her own, Raspo worked as an art director at VH1, a commercial director at Curious Pictures, a creator, writer and director for a series on the Oxygen Network, and finally as the executive creative director at Digital Kitchen. In 2008, she shifted to independent creative consultancy. “The breadth of work and the exposure to networks, agencies, academia and boutique production and EFX companies has allowed me to make and maintain contacts in all platforms of the media industry. Building a solid reputation is critical for longevity in a business that is constantly churning and changing,” Raspo says. “My advice for all entrepreneurs is to pinpoint your strengths, do what you love and go after your highest aspiration.”
