5 Outfits To Rock to Callen Lorde’s ROAR Pride Event

See you there!

Every year, Callen Lorde hosts an incredible Pride event at the Central Park Zoo called ROAR. This unique Pride event has something for LGBTQ community members and allies of all ages — from a delicious adults-only martini bar to a picnic buffet and private access to animal exhibits to a children’s area with face painting, activities, and drag queen story time with Merrie Cherry. This year, they will also host a special performance by Yuhua Hamasaki from season ten of “Rupaul’s Drag Race!”

This one of a kind Pride event deserves your full attention when it comes to picking out your fabulous outfit for the evening.

1. Glitter and drag!

While there will be many a drag queen at ROAR it might be fun to have a few drag kings in the crowd. Whether you’ve done drag before or not, you can rock a look to this event in whatever expression feels good for you. Might I suggest one of Spikey Van Dykey’s glitter beard and mustache combos? You can purchase them on their site in an array of beautiful, sparkling colors.

2. Be comfy for all the walking around.

If you’re a parent bringing little ones with you to this event you’ll want to be donning a comfy but cute outfit. You’ll likely be walking all around the zoo to enjoy the plethora of children’s activities (and also making side trips back and forth to the bar, am I right?). For this, I recommend checking out Wildfang for their stylish t-shirts and incredible platform sneakers – that have clouds on them!

3. Make a statement.

If you want to make a strong and bold statement with your t-shirt, The Phluid Project is the place to go shopping for you. They offer shirts that say “stronger together,” and “optimist,” and “free hugs.” I love graphic tees because they can also be a conversation starter at Pride events like ROAR. People will definitely compliment you and it gives you an “in” to chat up that cutie you’ve been eyeing.

4. Glam it up with your bae.

Glitter can be used in more ways than one — especially when it’s eco friendly glitter made by Fluide Beauty. If you’re coupled up this Pride season, then embrace that by finding ways to compliment each other’s style through makeup. One can use a dash of glitter on her eyes while the other dabbles some on top of her lipstick. You’ll be the talk of ROAR.

5. Flag for your desires.

This is a Pride event after all. Since this is a children-friendly event, find creative ways to more subtly flag that you’re a femme daddy with this custom leather belt made by Folsom Street Chains. They stamp queer messages into their leather work as a convenient way for you to let everyone know exactly who you are ;).

Whatever outfit you end up dressing your fabulous self in, know that this event is open for everyone to feel free in their expression and pride. Have fun and see y’all out there!
