WNBA Star Rickea Jackson Sparks Coming Out Rumors With New TikTok

Rickea Jackson is fueling speculation about her sexuality with a cheeky TikTok video.

Over the weekend, the Chicago Sky forward posted a video that showed her walking in slow motion, purposely avoiding stepping into a rainbow crosswalk as she entered the street. Then, she jumps into the air and lands in the rainbow.

That’s it. That’s the whole video.

Still, the intentionality of the action was enough to immediately spark questions among fans.

“Ok sista! This mean something or you just having fun?” one TikTok commenter asked.

“Rickea baby you’re finally home,” reads another comment punctuated by crying emojis. “welcome to the rainbow crew boo.”

Jackson’s Chicago Sky teammates DiJonai Carrington and Azura Stevens riled fans up even further by replying to the post with gifs seemingly expressing excitement and/or celebration, prompting side-eye emojis and pleas for more information.

But other WNBA fans pushed back against people reading into the video, suggesting that Jackson is just playing around or, as one person on reddit put it, “maybe she just walking on a fucking rainbow crosswalk enjoying her life! Y’all are fucking weird!”

“are your media literacy skills so horrible that you can’t see that she made a point to avoid walking in the rainbow walkway, then pointedly jumped onto it?” one person replied. “acting like people are strange or dumb for trying to discern why she made this video is an idiotic position to take.”

And that second commenter has a point. Walking in a rainbow crosswalk doesn’t mean anything. Going out of your way to record and share a video of you jumping into a rainbow crosswalk, however, is a capital-C Choice. It could very well be that Jackson is just having a good bit of fun with fans and the speculation surrounding her, but it’s not particularly logical to argue that there was zero intention behind it.

Until Jackson decides to get a little more explicit, we can’t confirm this as a coming out post—but it’s easy to understand why fans are reading it that way. And most importantly, they’re having as much fun with it as Jackson clearly had by posting the video in the first place.
