Are you ready for a cinematic sugar rush? Alexis Langlois’ feature debut, Queens Of Drama, is a neon-drenched, early-2000s-inspired pop musical that follows the meteoric rise and spectacular downfall of Mimi Madamour, a diva whose love affair with punk icon Billie Kohler fuels both their careers and their destruction. Starring newcomers Louiza Aura and Gio Ventura alongside Asia Argento, Alma Jodorowsky, and Eurovision star Bilal Hassani, the film is a maximalist French fever dream of queer love, toxic devotion, and pop-music mythology. Featuring tracks by Rebeka Warrior and Yelle, Queens of Drama promises to sound just as good as it looks.
