Video Of The Day: It’s National Poetry Day And This Is MY FAVORITE Lez Poem

“You kill everything that’s different. I preserve it.”

Guess what? It’s National Poetry Day, baby! And what lez doesn’t like poetry?! I don’t want to know! After all, it’s our lesbian genetic-makeup to adore both poetry and flannel.

We’ve decided in honor of this fine poetic day to post a fabulous gay poem by the fabulous gay poet Denice Frohman. I first heard this poem a few years ago on a tearful bus ride back from Philly after having a fight with my ex-girlfriend. I was cruising YouTube for a power-poem, and BAM. There. It. Was. “Dear Straight People.” It’s empowering. It’s affirming. It’s equal parts of strong and equal parts vulnerable. (And the poet is pretty sexy too, just saying).

So my precious queer kittens, what are your favorite poems?
