TV’s Lesbian Wedding Of The Year Could Come Soon On This Slept-On Apple TV+ Series

Rachel Melee (Ashley Burch) and Dana Bryant (Imani Hakim) on 'Mythic Quest'

We’re more than ready for a swoon-worthy wedding to happen ASAP.

Last week, Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest delivered one of the sweetest queer proposals in recent television history. If you haven’t been keeping up with this underrated workplace comedy, now is the time to catch up—because Dana (Imani Hakim) and Rachel (Ashly Burch) may be heading down the aisle soon, and it’s going to be adorbs.

For the uninitiated, Mythic Quest is a comedy set in the world of video game development. Created by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz, the series follows the eccentric team behind the fictional Mythic Quest video game as they navigate creative clashes, corporate meddling, and personal drama. Led by narcissistic creative director Ian Grimm (McElhenney) and his endlessly exasperated co-creator Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao), the show balances sharp satire with unexpected heart.

The latest episode, The Villain’s Feast, disguised itself as a Knives Out-style murder mystery but eventually revealed its true purpose: an elaborate marriage proposal. Dana, knowing Rachel’s love for puzzles and true crime, orchestrated the entire event just to pop the question. And in a show that has often depicted relationships crumbling under the weight of ambition, Dana and Rachel are showing that love and career don’t always have to be at odds.

Throughout its four-season run, Mythic Quest has tackled the intersection of creative passion and personal relationships, with most characters prioritizing their professional aspirations over romance. But Dana and Rachel have managed to weather the storm, even as they find themselves on opposite sides of the company. Dana’s rise as a star coder and Rachel’s pivot into executive decision-making have tested their relationship, but instead of falling into workplace toxicity, they’ve built something worth committing to.

“I’m such a fan of their pairing, I’m a fan of seeing queer representation from two women of color in this nerd space,” Hakim shared with Screen Time. “We’re ticking so many boxes that I feel are more important than ever right now.”

Even Burch, who plays Rachel and writes for the show, was deeply moved by the engagement. “When we shot it, I got chills. When you’re with these characters for so many years, you feel like you’re watching real people get engaged. It felt really special.”

“As a fan of the show, I’m proud of them and the growth that they’ve had as a unit,” Hakim added. “They’re stronger than ever and super supportive of each other individually and as a couple. It’s just really beautiful to see how much they’ve grown and grown as young women.”

So, will Mythic Quest give us TV’s lesbian wedding of the year? With six episodes to go, there’s plenty of time for the show to plan something just as grand as Dana’s proposal. And if The Villain’s Feast was any indication, it’s bound to be as surprising as it is hilarious. Of course, there’s always season five, but honestly, we wouldn’t mind an escapist lesbian dream wedding sooner rather than later.
