Toronto Sceptres’ Kali Flanagan and Allie Munroe Announce Engagement
The pair went public about their relationship in 2024.
Another sapphic sports couple has gotten engaged! A big congratulations in order for Kali Flanagan and Allie Munroe of the Toronto Sceptres.
The teammates shared the exciting news via Instagram on Wednesday. “Signed a lifetime contract,” Flanagan wrote alongside a series of snaps showing off their rings, their dog, and what looks to have been a beachside proposal.
Both hockey players were drafted by the Toronto Sceptres when the Professional Women’s Hockey League was formed in 2023. They played together in the inaugural season and have extended their contracts to continue to do so. By the end of 2024, they had gone public with their relationship, which had already included adopting a dog, Duncan.
The duo also previously revealed on the No Straight Answers with Zoe Boyd podcast that their relationship actually bloomed slowly via texting and hanging out with each other when the whole team would go out .They also made it clear that their relationship was never something they hid from their fellow Sceptres — how very Heated Rivalry of them
“When we first dating it was a very natural thing,” Munroe said. “We were out with our whole team when we had our first kiss and everyone was there and it was just like, ‘Alright. They’re together.’ And then that was it.”
“I feel like it was kind of obvious,” Flanagan added.
Their supportive teammates also brought cheeky jokes to the engagement post.
“Wait you guys are dating,” Raygan Kirk commented, while Blayre Turnball Sommer suggested, “Let’s have the wedding at Coca Cola Coliseum.”
Even the official Toronto Sceptres social media account made sure to congratulate the two.
