Tim McGraw And Faith Hill’s Daughter Gracie Opens Up About Her Identity And The Media’s Reaction

A Pride post sparked headlines, but Gracie McGraw says they missed the mark.
When Gracie McGraw, daughter of country music legends Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, kicked off Pride Month with a joyful Instagram post reading “Everyone get more gay now!!!” followed by “Happy Freaking Pride. I love being queer,” fans and media outlets alike took notice.
It was seemingly the first time Gracie, 28, had spoken publicly about her queer identity. Understandably, many interpreted it as a coming out moment. Given her last name and the public’s curiosity about the next generation of country music royalty, the post quickly made headlines.
But a day later, Gracie returned to her Instagram Story to clarify things in her own words.

“It has come to my attention that some tabloids have taken an Instagram story I posted yesterday and have used it as click bait saying I’ve ‘come out,’” she wrote.
“Let me be VERY clear here… I’ve been an out and proud queer, bisexual woman and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she continued. “I have and will always be very vocal about my support of LGBTQIA+ rights and the community, but thank you very much to these tabloids for shedding light that it’s pride month!!!”
She continued with a message of compassion and solidarity: “So many people out there don’t have the support, love, or understanding from their families when it comes to their sexuality or gender identity, but just know that there is a beautiful community out there that loves you and cares about and for you! Check on your people and keep safe out there. Give love to each other. GM.”
The support system Gracie alluded to is clearly strong in her own life.
Just a few days before her Pride post, Gracie and her two sisters joined their dad onstage in Nashville, performing “Last Dollar (Fly Away)”—a song they originally sang on as children. “They’re all grown up now,” McGraw said onstage, beaming. “My girls!”
Over the years, both parents have shown support for LGBTQ+ rights. Hill was among the artists who supported fellow country musician Chely Wright when she came out in 2010, and McGraw has often spoken about how raising daughters shaped his view of the world.

In 2020, he told People, “Gracie, our oldest daughter, is an actress in L.A., and she makes me proud every day because she’s such a strong, independent young lady who speaks her mind. And she makes me proud every day of the way she lives her life.”
Gracie’s life these days includes a growing acting and singing career. She recently performed in The Great War & The Great Gatsby at Carnegie Hall, with both of her parents cheering from the audience.
Her Pride post may have sparked headlines, but her follow-up reminded everyone that queerness isn’t always a reveal. She’s been here. She’s been proud. And now, more people get to see it.
