Apr 3 at the Gotham Comedy Club, join LYNX LOUNGE as they present their fifth Homo Comicus: Girls Gone Hilarious! show. Prepare for a rowdy, uproarious and completely uncensored comedy bender with the hottest up-and-coming and seasoned female comedians. This fabulous laughter-filled special event, hosted by Jackie Monahan, will feature L.A.-based out comic Sabrina Matthews, bi-coastal funny lady Sherry Davey, NYC favorite Gloria Bigelow and sassy and sarcastic Veronica Mosey. Enjoy a free pre-show mixer from 6–7pm in Gotham’s lovely downstairs lounge sponsored by LYNX LOUNGE/Out Professionals with snacks and a $5 margarita drink special.

The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance (BAAD!) kicks off its spring season with BAAD!ASS WOMEN 2008, its annual cultural festival celebrating the empowerment of women. The festival, now through Mar 29 at BAAD!, will open with a special concert by BRIO Award-winning choreographer Jessica Danser and continue through the month with seven unique offerings of dance, theatre, music, film and art, including performances by Elizabeth “Macha” Marrero, Saheli, Imani Uzuri, plus award-winning choreographers, an evening of women filmmakers curated by Mix NYC, a tribute to freedom fighter Freda Rosen and more.

To show support for The City of New York’s recently-revealed proposal for preserving Coney’s islands Amusement District, a fabulous group of Coney Island gliteratti have banded together to plan Save Coney Island, a wild spectacle of a community awareness event. On Mar 8 at Southpaw, the Save Coney Island organization joins forces with Miss Cyclone, Angie Pontani, Dianna Carlin of Lola Staar and Jen Gapay of Thirsty Girl Productions to stage a tilta-whirling event as exciting as a spin on the Cyclone! Join these eclectic carnies as they present wild bands, the best of burlesque and side show, dance party DJ’s, gorgeous Go-Go gals, never before seen slide shows, Coney-centric videos and more.

Mar 12 at The Center, Cocktails with Content and the National Center for Lesbian Rights present the launch party of Kate Clinton’s 25th Anniversary Tour. Renowned director/producer Andrea Meyerson’s (creator of the Laughing Matters series) splendid anniversary special celebrates a quarter century of disarming, old-school feminist and all-round funny girl, Kate Clinton. Abu Ghraib, dead popes, fashions in menstruation, The L Word and our culture of surveillance are all fair game for this grande dame of American political and queer comedy in an inspirational and outrageous show.

Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad are going get jew, sucka. After cruising the US for 5 years, Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad opened at The Zipper last December to rave reviews, and Mar 8–26, they’re back for more. This rendition of mishagas on wheels features new songs and comics, as well as old favorites like the Hasidic Strip, “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen Remixed” and the mystery of Judaism solved: “What’s in Gefilte Fish?” A different show each night, this run serves up comedians Michelle Collins, Dana Eagle, Ophira Eisenberg, Rachel Feinstein, Julie Goldman and other funny females
