The Internet Reacts To Last Night’s Debate

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – SEPTEMBER 10: Republican presidential nominee, former U.S. President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris debate for the first time during the presidential election campaign at The National Constitution Center on September 10, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After earning the Democratic Party nomination following President Joe Biden’s decision to leave the race, Harris faced off with Trump in what may be the only debate of the 2024 race for the White House. The memes did not disappoint.

Last night, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump faced off in their first (and maybe only) presidential debate. After weeks of anticipation and questions like, will Harris bait him? Will Trump be able to put a coherent sentence together? Will the fact checkers be able to keep up?, all eyes were half on the debate and half on social media to see what everyone had to say. Here are some of our favs:

First, let’s start with the all-star line-up of reactions to Trump’s “illegal transgender aliens” comment that popped up on our feeds:

Then, we were whiplashed with Trump’s wild and overtly racist claim that Haitian immigrants are eating the pets of people in Springfield, Ohio.

A handful of people noticed that Trump seems to have switched up his makeup routine.

The toughest job of the debate had to be the moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis. Especially when Davis had to say out loud into a microphone with all sincerity, “There is no state where it is legal to kill a baby after it is born.”

Queer icon and legend Keke Palmer had just one word to describe Harris’s performance.

And many celebrities showed their support for Kamala Harris following the debate by sharing pictures with their cats, including Taylor Swift.
