The Coven Returns In New Pics From ‘American Horror Story’ Season 13 — Here’s Who’s Missing

Here’s when the new season premieres.

Our first look at the witches from season 13 of American Horror Story is finally here—and so is the premiere date.

Pictures from the upcoming season, which is confirmed to be a return of the Coven witches, feature a line-up of familiar faces on the streets of New York City. Sarah Paulson—who last appeared in season 10—is present, along with fellow coven members Frances Conroy, Emma Roberts, and Gabourey Sidibe. Longstanding AHS cast member Leslie Grossman has also joined the group, along with newcomers Avantika Vandanapu, Alex Consani, and Grace Dumdaw.

Notably missing from the Coven era are Taissa Farmiga, whose last appearance was in Apocalypse, and Lily Rabe, who last appeared in season 10.

It’s hard to believe American Horror Story has been on the air for 15 years and 12 seasons (going on 13). Without a doubt, the Coven era has been the fan favorite, but it’s been nearly eight years since those delightfully wicked characters graced our screens in season eight, Apocalypse.

It’s fitting that the 13th season will see a return of the coven, including familiar faces from the American Horror Story universe that haven’t been around in awhile.

Most notably, this new season will see the long-awaited return of Jessica Lange, who was a series regular for seasons 1-4 and last appeared reprising her original role as Constance Langdon in season eight.

When asked just last year whether she would ever appear on AHS again, Lange replied, “Oh Christ, no. I mean, I haven’t done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I’m not doing it.”

Fans were thrilled when the news broke that she had changed her mind and would, in fact, make an appearance in the upcoming season. Other cast members from Coven who are slated to return include Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Kathy Bates. Billie Lourd, Cara Delevingne, Charlie Carver, Ariana Grande, John Waters, Mena Suvari, and Madelaine Petsch are also set to appear this season. 

The photo drop also offered a release date. The 13th season of American Horror Story will premiere on September 24 on FX and Hulu.
