Survivor’s First Queer Female Couple of Color Just Hard Launched

Katurah Topps and Sabiyah Broderick shared their relationship on social media this week.

Happy Pride, Survivor Fans! While Season 45 of the hit survival reality show ended years ago, two of its contestants have blessed queer fans of the show with an official hard launch

Katurah Topps and Sabiyah Broderick officially let fans in on their relationship with an Instagram post filled with sweet moments together—lipstick-stained cheeks, dancing videos, a visit to the Chicago Bean, and even an anniversary candlelit dinner.

“On Survivor, we both struggled with fire🔥I couldn’t make it and she went a week without it,” wrote Topps in the caption. “But what we’ve built together? That’s a fire that finally lit itself! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥.”

Topps added, “Players to Partners, from Castmates to Co-dreamers… Meet Survivor’s FIRST Black Queer Woman Couple✨🏳️‍🌈.” And it’s true, with this hard launch, the duo becomes the long-running franchise’s first queer female couple of Color!

Fans will undoubtedly remember Topps’ time on the show. The Civil Rights lawyer living in Brooklyn made it all the way to the top four while winning hearts with her vulnerability, opening up about her past in a religious cult.

Broderick, the former marine and current truck driver, did not make it past the third episode due to her placement within the “Lulu Tribe,” which has been named one of the worst tribes in the show’s history.

Survivors fans know that before the game ever begins, players spend a few days in absolute SILENCE at a resort called Ponderosa (Pondi). Well.. we may NOT have been as silent as we were told to be 🤣🤫 It’s ok tho.. something bigger was brewing 🥰 #survivor #realitytv #wlw #pride #blacklove #bathroom @Survivor @Sabiyah 💜

In a recent TikTok, they shared that right before the game began, Broderick followed Topps into the bathroom to tell her, “Just so you know, I got you.”

Topps explained that she replayed that conversation in her head during the first couple of days in her tribe, thinking that if she could just make it to the tribe swap, she would have an ally in Broderick. However, their paths never crossed again in Fiji due to Broderick’s early exit. Because of their vastly different Survivor journeys, the pair did not end up connecting until after the show had finished.

Fans have been ecstatic since the couple hard-launched their relationship, and Survivor alumni have flooded their comment section. In a recent statement, the couple opened up about the incredible support they’ve gotten and how important it was for them to share their love with the world. “But now that we’re here, we understand the impact of our love being visible. Sharing something as deeply personal as our relationship, gives us the chance to show up the way many people want to, but don’t have the chance: authentically, as ourselves,” the couple shared.

Well, the tribe has spoken, and we hope that the torch fire of their love is not extinguished anytime soon.
