Valentine’s Day was extra special for celesbian power couple Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris, who announced over the weekend that they had adopted a baby girl.
Sloane Phllips, born February 12th and weighing six pounds, eleven ounces, was introduced via Instagram on Sunday. In a message addressed to the baby’s birth mom, the couple writes, “We promise Sloane will be loved every single day by us, our friends and our family.” The couple also promise “to give her the tools to live a happy, successful life of inclusivity and support,” and “encourage her to follow her dreams no matter how big or small.”

To their daughter, they added, “Welcome to the family, Sloane Phillips … we are so in love with you already!”
Krieger and Harris, who are both members of the Orlando Pride and the Women’s National Team (WNT), married in 2019 after dating for 10 years. They were part of the squad that won the World Cup that same year. Although they both called up to the WTN for the game against Colombia on January 22nd, they have been left off the roster for the SheBelievesCup, which USA Today speculates could be to allow them more time with their new daughter.
However, for fans looking to see the pair back on the field, good news: The Orlando Sentinel reports that both Krieger and Harris are vying for a spot on the squad for this summer’s Olympic games in Tokyo.
The U.S. WNT reposted the announcement on its Instagram, congratulating the couple on their latest addition: “Hearts so full!!! Congrats @aliekrieger and @ashlynharris24! And welcome to the family Sloane!”
