And she’s dating a woman!

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor has come out as bisexual—and she’s dating a woman.

Taylor recently opened up in conversation with Jay Shetty during an episode of his On Purpose podcast. “I’m gay, and I’m bi and date women and men,” she said bluntly.

What followed was a frank and relatable conversation about Taylor’s journey with her sexuality over the years. While she acknowledged that it’s “something that I have known since I was little,” she also discussed the difficulty she faced in understanding the feelings she had towards women and ultimately voicing them.

“It’s just something that I honestly didn’t really know how to formally address for a long period of my life,” she admitted. “I kind of laugh about it now, ‘cause I would be watching shows like Pretty Little Liars, and I would watch Shay Mitchell kissing a girl. And I was like, ‘Wait, why is that hot?’ But I didn’t know what those feelings were because I didn’t have queer representation around me.”

Taylor joined The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in season one as a recent divorceé. She has two sons with her ex-husband, Clayton Wessel, but says it was actually the end of her relationship with Mason McWhorter earlier this year that inspired her to focus on herself and explore her sexuality.

“I would just kind of underplay it for a long period of my life,” she said. “I just feel like I’m finally in the era that I’m over not being truly myself, and I’m over not showing every part of Layla to the world. I’m very proud to be bi, and I’m very proud now to be out.”

She also casually mentioned that she’s been “talking to” a woman she met online. They’ve already met up in person and shared a kiss that Taylor describes as “me intentionally going into a moment knowing how I felt about women.” But the reality star also shared her appreciation for this mystery lady, allowing for her to take things at her own pace.

As for her Secret Lives co-stars, Taylor says she hasn’t actually come out to any of them yet…although she understands this podcast interview might just do it for her. But clearly, she was ready to make her truth known.

“We’re only on this earth for however long we are here, and I’ll be damned if I’m not able to be fully who I am,” she said.
