Reneé Rapp Drops Single and Album Release Date
Two years after the release of her first album Snow Angel, Rapp surprised fans by announcing that her second album Bite Me is set to release on August 1. Alongside the album announcement, Rapp released the first single “Leave Me Alone” with an accompanying music video.
With a vocal range like hers, the track is shockingly devoid of vocals and almost all performed in a Kesha-esque talking style. The music video, which follows Rapp and a gaggle of friends to a bar and into a dreamscape pillow fight, is full of blonde influencers and missing any shred of diversity… girl, come on. The lyrics don’t offer much insight besides letting us into Rapp’s angst as she repeats, “Leave me alone b*tch/ I wanna have fun.” In the second verse, Rapp randomly shades The Sex Lives of College Girls, the show where she gained a massive amount of her audience, saying, “I took my sex life with me/ now the show ain’t f*ckin’.” While the song will undoubtedly get overplayed this Pride season, I certainly hope we have more to look forward to on the album.
Yellowjackets Gets Season Four Renewal
After incessant pleading from online lesbians, Yellowjackets has officially been picked up for a fourth season with Paramount+ and Showtime.“Yellowjackets has become a cultural juggernaut, with Season 3 shattering all previous records – we are thrilled to announce its renewal for a Season 4 on Paramount+,” Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and president of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said. This past season quickly became the series’ most-watched season, with the finale alone garnering over three million viewers.
Fans have taken to social media to share their excitement about the renewal, with many claiming they never thought it would return (probably a side effect of every lesbian show usually getting canceled). Many are hoping for the show to take a gayer and gorier turn with this new season. I, for one, am just excited to see everyone’s favorite bisexual menace, Shauna Shipman, live to terrorize her teammates another day.
KATSEYE’s Lara Raj Gets Award at LA LGBT Center
At the second annual Golden Hour event celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, Lara Raj from famed girl group KATSEYE opened up about her queer journey. “This one feels like it’s for little Lara,” said Raj while accepting the Blooming Impact Award. “I just wanna say to all of you that are living your truth now, I understand how much courage it takes and I see your bravery.”
Raj made headlines last year after coming out on the fandom platform Weverse, writing that she was “half fruitcake.” KATSEYE was formed on Netflix’s girl group competition series The Debut: Dream Academy, where Raj competed to make her way onto the group’s final lineup.
“I want you to know that I will continue to speak up for us as a brown queer girl,” Raj ended her speech. Later posting to social media, the girl group star wrote, “BROWN GIRLS UP FOREVER, LGBTQ BADDIES FOREVER, AND TRANS RIGHTS FOREVER!!!!!”
Lady Gaga Gets Closer to EGOT Status
As if she wasn’t already having the most iconic year of all time, Lady Gaga just inched a step closer to EGOT status with a Sports Emmy win for her performance of “Hold My Hand” at the Super Bowl. The emotional performance in New Orleans honoring the victims of the New Year’s attacks won Gaga an award in the Outstanding Music Direction category.
With her Oscar for A Star is Born, multiple Grammys, and now an Emmy, Gaga is only a Tony Award away from reaching legendary status.
Chappell Calls For Banning Pop Crave
While on the Outlaws with TS Madison podcast alongside her drag mother, Sasha Colby, Chappell Roan called for the banning of hot takes, Pop Crave, and, you guessed it, cork shoes (?). In the hour-long episode, Roan got real about her life in the spotlight and how her standing up for herself has caused hate to be placed in the wrong direction. “I’m very confused when the queer community trashes on another members of it. Being mad is so important, and you can do something with that. Do something with that hatred you have for me: go to your lawmakers, go vote, go volunteer,” Roan said.
Host TS Madison used some of their time together to thank Roan on behalf of the trans community for always using her voice to stand up for them. “For someone to have the presence and use their presence to speak for the voiceless, we thank you. We salute you. We support you. We love you for that,” Madison said. “When you walk into a space, you let it be known ‘I’m here because others were there and this particular group of people is the reason why there’s gas to fuel my star.’”
We can only hope that people will listen to her call for hot takes to be banned, and we can finally see the end of the unnecessary stream of online Chappell Roan discourse.
