Netflix’s ‘The Body’ First Look Is Giving Very Lesbian Catholic Schoolgirl Chaos
Our first look at images from Quinn Shephard’s upcoming sapphic Netflix series.
Our first look at Netflix’s new Catholic schoolgirl drama series, The Body, is finally here!
When the project was first announced back in 2025, it already seemed like a winner. The eight-episode series is set to follow a group of Catholic schoolgirls after a dance troupe initiation goes wrong, resulting in them “having prophetic visions that set off mass hysteria in their town.”
Perhaps even more importantly, The Body was created and showrun by Quinn Shephard, who previously gave us Blame, Not Okay, and Under the Bridge.
“I joke that this show is so me — it’s really aggressively me,” she previously told Tudum. “It’s satirizing some of the trauma of growing up queer and repressed and the confusion around that.”
Despite already having several projects under her belt, the actor-turned-writer/director says The Body was actually the first TV script she ever started writing, back in her early 20s. It sounds as if the project has developed in a somewhat different direction since then, but the emotions that inspired the coming-of-age series were born of that time in Shephard’s life.
“I started writing the show the year I came out,” she said. “All the confusion, shame, passion, spirituality, and the language of girlhood [were things] I was still learning to speak. It felt really heavy to me.”
Sapphic fans are already getting excited for the series, which is set to premiere on November 11. And the first look images that dropped on Tuesday are only adding to the hype.
