TAKE Dance, a contemporary dance ensemble known for its effortless fusion of Eastern and Western sensibilities, presents two programs exploring poetic and visceral human connections to nature. Led by Japanese choreographer Takehiro Ueyama, program A will feature the World Premiere of “Flight,” set to music by artists including Ana Milosavljevic, Terry Riley, Aleksandra Vrebalov, Philip Glass, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Program B will feature the New York Premiere of “Left There by the Tide,” choreographed by Jill Echo. Performances will run May 19-22 at Dance Theater Workshop.

This Neo-Baroque dance-theatre group will delight and amaze as they re-imagine your favorite childhood fairy tales in a magical menagerie of opera, dance, theatre and opulent design. Fusing Baroque, classical ballet, flamenco, ballroom, contemporary partnering and Indian dance along with contemporary movement , this lush extravaganza includes revisions of classic fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Princess and the Pea and more.
PARADIGM Dance NYC presents two world premieres at the NYU/Tisch School of the Arts on May 26 & 27. Carmen deLavallade, Gus Solomons Jr., Dudley Williams, Hope Clarke, Valda Setterfield, Keith Sabado, and Michael Blake have created an exciting new performance ensemble that vividly illustrates the eloquence that years of experience bring to dance expression. These seasoned performers infuse each movement phrase and gesture with emotional resonance and intense focus that continues the modern dance tradition. The evening’s program features seven works, including the World Premieres of “Montauk”, choreographed by Gus Solomons Jr., and “Idyll,” choreographed by Kate Weare.
