Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars dropped brand-new duet “Die with a Smile” on Thursday night.
The vintage music video, which was also released Thursday, begins with a spotlight on Mars, who begins to spin a romantic story while making eye-contact with the camera. “Wherever you go that’s where I’ll follow/ Nobody’s promised tomorrow,” he sings while dressed in a blue suit jacket and signature-open collar and gold chain.
The camera pans over to Lady Gaga, whose massive Dolly Parton-esque updo cascades down her matching blue dress with red accents. She blows cigarette smoke across the 1950s-inspired sound stage while playing piano.
“You already know what you mean to me,” the two sing, gazing into each other’s eyes. “And our love is the only war worth fighting for.”
“Die with a Smile” marks the first collaboration for the duo, both 38 years old. The two began dropping hints earlier this week, which fans quickly caught on to.
The “Born This Way” singer shared a snippet of the song on X Tuesday, playing the medley on her piano while wearing a Bruno Mars t-shirt. Fans’ ears were officially perked.

The next day, Mars got in on the action and made his own teaser post to Instagram. The “24k Magic” sensation shared a photo of himself in a Lady Gaga t-shirt, adding fuel to the speculations.
The single was officially confirmed a few hours before it dropped. Gaga posted the cover art to Instagram and took the opportunity to tease her next project.
“WHILE YOU WAIT TILL LG7…“DIE WITH A SMILE” a duet with @brunomars ❤️🔥,” the caption read.
“Die with a Smile” marks Gaga’s first release since her 2022 single “Hold My Hand,” featured in the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack. Her most recent solo album Chromatica was released in 2020, and was remixed and re-released as Dawn of Chromatica in 2021. In the same year, she also released BORN THIS WAY THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY and her second collab album with Tony Bennett, Love For Sale. Fans are on the edge of their seats for her upcoming project, referred to as “LG7,” which has no release date.
Mars has not released a solo album since 24k Magic in 2016. In 2021, he teamed up with Anderson.Paak to create Silk Sonic. The Grammy award-winning duo put out one album An Evening With Silk Sonic.
