Tell the record player inside your mind that it’s time to switch from “Padam Padam” to “Tension.”
Kylie Minogue, arguably the queen of pop music, inarguably icon to the gays, has done it again.
Today, she released the title track and second single from her highly-anticipated album, Tension.
“Tension” comes on the heels of ear-worm and viral sensation “Padam Padam.” The word “Padam” has found its way into gay slang as an encompassing greeting, exclamation, verb, noun, adjective– you name it. “Padam” is so popular that the word might even be added to the Oxford Dictionary.
Minogue’s newest single, “Tension,”, is set to be an equally crave-able smash. Written by Minogue with long term collaborators Biff Stannard and Duck Blackwell as well as KAMILLE, Anya Jones and Jon Green, the track is full of sexy and uninhibited joy, making it the perfect follow up to “Padam Padam.”
The video is directed by long-time collaborator Sophie Muller and features Minogue in several different guises in a ‘retro-future’ alternate reality.
“Tension” is set to be released into the wild on September 22 via BMG. We can expect more songs full of pleasure and euphoria that we will beg the DJ to play the the gay club (as if we’d have to beg).
Late last month, Minogue announced her first Las Vegas residency at the Voltaire venue located in The Venetian. The exact dates have not been released, but her grand entrance is expected to be on November 3rd.
“The spirit of Voltaire is one of pure, authentic fun. It’s one I resonate with as a pop artist. My new album Tension is all about the space where the intimate and universal come together, and Voltaire represents just that,” Kylie said of the residency.
