Kristen Stewart Says She Would Love To Play A ‘Gay’ Superhero

Um, YES PLEASE.

Excuse me, Marvel? Kristen Stewart would like to have a word with you.

Stewart is currently promoting her new film Seberg at the Toronto International Film Festival. While chatting with Variety, she expanded upon her recent statement, “I have fully been told, ‘If you just like do yourself a favor, and don’t go out holding your girlfriend’s hand in public, you might get a Marvel movie.’”

Stewart explained that she only called Marvel out specifically because “it was literally just a big conglomerate-y type thing” — not because it’s known for its homophobia or anything.

“I’m sure they would love to hire the gay kids to be superheroes,” she laughed.

Then her co-star Anthony Mackie piped up to wonder aloud what kind of superhero Stewart would play. She quickly answered: “A gay one!”

Mackie replied, “I think she should be the gay female Falcon Captain America.” Meanwhile, Stewart went into full superhero pose.

Stewart is right that Marvel is happy to hire “the gay kids.” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in 2018 that LGBTQ characters would soon join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he’s since followed through on his word. In July, Marvel announced their first LGBTQ superhero (Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie), and they began casting their first trans woman superhero in August. The movie “The Eternals” will also feature a gay male character.

We’re sure Marvel could find the perfect role for Kristen!
