Nonbinary Track Star Nikki Hiltz Advances to Semi-Finals

1500-meter runner Nikki Hiltz made history as the first out transgender and nonbinary Olympian. They made it through the first round of heats yesterday to advance to the semi-finals tomorrow. During Olympic trials, they finished the race in 3 minutes and 55.33 seconds, beating the Olympic Trials record. After the race, Hiltz shared their message of encouragement to the trans and nonbinary community and seemingly weighed in on the heated gender dispute involving two female boxers, Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan.

Gabby Thomas Wins USA Gold In 200-Meter For The First Time Since 2012

Gabby Thomas, a Harvard graduate who holds a Masters in Public Health, won the gold medal in the 200-meter race, beating out 100-meter gold medalist Julien Alfred, who finished second. This was the first time the USA has won the gold in the 200-meter race since Allyson Felix won in 2012. She was joined on the podium by USA teammate Brittany Brown.

Team USA’s Amit Elor Became The Youngest Woman To Win Olympic Gold

20-year-old Amit Elor defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova 3-0 on Tuesday in the 68-kilogram final at the Paris Games to become the youngest Olympic wrestling gold medalist in U.S. history, male or female. Since women started wrestling in the Olympics in 2004, only 3 Americans have won gold: Helen Maroulis in 2016, Tamyra Mensah-Stock in 2021, and now Elor.

The Park Skateboarding Podium Was Owned By Teenagers

Arisa Trew, a 14-year-old from Team Australia, won the gold medal for the Women’s Park skateboarding event. She is the first women’s skateboarder to land a 720 and a 900 in competition, and the youngest Australian to win a gold medal. She was joined on the podium by Japan’s Cocona Hiraki, who is 15, and Great Britain’s Sky Brown, who is 16.
