Doechii Finally Releases “Anxiety” And We Have A TikTok Trend To Thank
Our anxiety about this song’s release is officially out the window.
For the OG Doechii fans, we worried this day might never come. But the Swamp Princess proved us wrong and answered our prayers. “Anxiety” is officially available to stream!
The single dropped on Tuesday, March 4 after Doechii blessed us with a surprise announcement. “Swamp I heard y’all loud n clear!” she shared on X, less than an hour before the single was released. Fans flooded the comments to freak out over this fan-favorite song that is finally seeing the light of day on streaming services.
If you’re new to the swamp, you may have heard the song doing rounds on TikTok. “Anxiety” has become the center of a new trend on the social media app, which caused longtime fans to push for its release and new fans to discover some of Doechii’s more obscure songs.

“Anxiety,” which heavily samples Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know,” was originally recorded in her bedroom as part of her 2019 self-released mixtape, Coven Music Sessions. Although the original version was never released for streaming, it was shared on YouTube in 2020, where you can see a young Doechii goofing off and killing the vocals in her colorful bedroom. The video, a reminder of her humble beginnings and that she has quite literally always been that girl, has been viewed over 3 million times.
“Anxiety” resurfaced in 2023 after New York rapper Sleepy Hollow sampled Doechii’s hook on his track of the same name. Her verse rapidly gained popularity over the past few weeks and went viral on TikTok, with over 330,000 videos of users lip-syncing and dancing to the song.
In case this is too much to keep straight (“Anxiety” has quite a complicated backstory), Doechii gave us a “quick rundown” of the lore behind the song.
