Did Olympic Gymnast Rebeca Andrade Just Hard Launch A New Girlfriend?

Fans are cheering on Rebeca Andrade for a whole new reason after the Olympic gymnast appears to have just hard-launched a new girlfriend.

Andrade competed at the 2026 Pan American Gymnastics Championships over the weekend, taking home the vault title on Sunday. She posted a series of celebratory photos to her Instagram stories after the event, one of which included a picture of her sitting on another woman’s lap, in a pose far too cozy for fans to interpret as platonic.

“Thank you for supporting me and being here for this important moment in my life!” she captioned the post in Portuguese. “I love you.”

Although Andrade has not publicly spoken about her sexuality, she was previously linked to bodybuilder Luiz Cleiton. Fans noted that he had stopped appearing on her social media a couple of years ago, and Andrade confirmed she was single in 2024. That same year, rumors also began to swirl that the two-time Olympic champion was in a relationship with volleyball player Gabi Guimarães, although they were never confirmed.

After gymnastics fans took to celebrate what they’re taking as Andrade coming out of the closet, her team issued a statement to Quem alleging that the other woman is nothing more than a friend.

“It’s a friend who was at the Arena today. Rebeca made a series of posts on her Stories today thanking important people in her daily life (both professionally and personally). The posts include friends, members of her personal team, and professionals from CBG/Flamengo,” they said.

However, fans aren’t buying into the spin, especially without a statement from Andrade herself.

“They’re wearing matching rings and have been seen together since last year. They’ve spent the holidays together. A close friend commented “Cuties <3” on one of the posts declaring Rebeca was out. They’re clearly an item,” one redditor explained. “Apparently, however, some sponsor didn’t like the association of their brand to the LGBTQ community… we live in terrible times.”

What we do know for sure is that Andrade felt comfortable enough to post a photo and declaration of love, leaving fans more than happy to take it at face value.

“Anyways, another win for us LGBT gym fans,” one wrote, while another simply declared, “HAPPY PRIDE Y’ALL.”

“[Andrade is] already one of the ultimate inspirations in the sport,” another added, “but now she’s even more of an inspiration!”
