Boston Legacy FC Player Nicki Hernández Announces Engagement
Nicki Hernández proposed to longtime girlfriend Nat Cruz earlier this month.
Boston Legacy Football Club member Nicki Hernández just proposed to her longtime girlfriend, Nat Cruz—and she said yes!
The soccer player announced the engagement on Instagram this week, writing, “Nuestro sueño hecho realidad,” or, “Our dream come true.” The carousel of celebratory photos included her proposal to Cruz on a boat earlier this month, along sweet pics from the moments that followed.
Hernández joined Boston Legacy FC earlier this year, bringing her talents to the National Women’s Soccer League after four seasons with Club América Femenil, where she helped her team win the Clausura 2023 championship. The Illinois-born defender has also represented Mexico’s women’s national team since 2022. She was part of the Mexican squad that won gold at the 2023 Pan American Games, and scored her first goal with Mexico in the 2024 W Gold Cup.
An earlier Instagram post suggests Hernández and Cruz have been together since April 2023.
“Happy One Year to my best friend and Amor de mi vida,” Hernández wrote in 2024, “can’t wait for many more with you.”
The two have openly celebrated their relationship and love for one another over the years, frequently sharing snapshots of vacations, holidays, and everyday moments together, making the engagement particularly appreciated by fans who have followed their relationship online.
Friends were also thrilled to offer well-wishes to the happy couple. Fellow Boston Legacy FC player Annie Karich commented “CRYINGGG” and “YES YES YES” before urging Hernandez and Cruz to get the sixth photo they shared—one of them cozied up on the boat after jumping into the water—framed. Scarlett Camberos, who plays with Hernandez on the Mexico women’s national football team, offered her own congratulations while noting, “can’t wait to celebrate your guys’ love.”
