Bone Lick Park Restaurant Review

BBQ in Greenwich village…

BONE LICK PARK
75 Greenwich Street (@7th Avenue), 212 647 9600

If finger-lickin’ fun is what you’re after, check out Bone Lick Park BAR B QUE.  Located on Greenwich and Seventh Avenues, this haven of Southern hospitality features whitewashed walls and quaint, non-fussy Americana décor. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, and the menu features some of the best ‘que this side of the Mason-Dixon. Against the backdrop of a giant, vintage Coca-Cola sign, a diverse crowd enjoys the full bar. The staff rushes up to greet you, and the next thing you know you’re sipping a fresh mojito (only $3.50!), savoring the rush of mint that envelops your mouth and tappin’ your foot to the Allman Brothers.

The owner, Nick Accardi is a native New Yorker who was transplanted to central Florida in his youth. Thus began his journey with the South’s one true cuisine: BBQ. Trained by renowned “pit master” Mike Mills, Accardi knows exactly what to do with his traditional log-burning pit, accented with hickory, apples, cherry wood and spices. All the sauces are made in-house, from scratch. “I have sauces from every region,” exclaims Accardi, as he serves up Kansas City-style baby back ribs along with succulent Texas beef ribs. The flavorful pulled pork will melt in your mouth, and a swig of sweet tea will leave you smiling. The mac ‘n’ cheese is made with fresh cheddar and bread crumbs. Add that to the cheese grits,  home-stewed okra and the cornbread, and it’s easy to see why the establishment was named Best of CitySearch 2007.

Nick is especially proud of his baked beans, which take a refreshing, organic approach to the Southern favorite. Similarly, the Southern fried chicken is juicy and tender without being greasy. Don’t worry, Accardi covers the bases with healthy and innovative vegetarian-friendly fare. But that’s not all: Sundays through Thursdays from 5–8pm, there’s a two-for-one entrée special. For $12.95, Accardi offers a Southern Brunch, which includes unlimited bloody marys, frozen margaritas and mojitos for up to an hour. “The French toast is like clouds,” according to one content customer.  Top yourself off with hefty slice of the decadent sweet potato-pecan pie, which is guaranteed to make you say “Dang!”
