After Umbrella Outburst Goes Viral, Doechii Has The Last Word
Caught in a flurry of umbrellas and opinions, Doechii finally sets the record straight.
By now, if you’ve been anywhere near a phone screen, you’ve probably seen the footage: Doechii, cloaked in mystery (and Louis Vuitton), storming out of her hotel surrounded by a frantic flurry of umbrellas, stylists, and stress.
But in true Doechii fashion, the “What It Is” rapper didn’t let the internet define the moment for her. Instead, she grabbed the narrative by the TikTok and flipped it with humor, honesty, and just the right amount of diva energy.
In the clip making rounds online, Doechii can be seen losing her cool with her team as they struggled to shield her from paparazzi during her pre-Met Gala exit. “I’m ready,” she says, stepping off the elevator, before immediately snapping: “No, stop. Give me another umbrella now — and another. I need more f****** umbrellas.”
Moments later, she’s seen ducking behind a clothing rack, demanding more coverage as assistants scramble around her. While some fans laughed it off as a moment of glam-gone-wrong, others weren’t amused, calling out the tone she used with her team.

Doechii, clearly aware of the mixed reception, responded with a wink and a meme. In a TikTok posted days later, she parodied the viral “God Forbid” trend, striking the Druski meme pose while The Commodores’ “Easy” played in the background. The caption? “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas.”
And in a follow-up message, she said all that needed saying: “All jokes aside, this was such an overstimulating night, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. This was the night we all dreamed of, and my team killed it (umbrellas aside).”
Whether you saw a diva meltdown or just a girl trying to preserve the reveal, one thing’s clear: this year’s Met Gala wasn’t just about archival fashion. It was also about umbrellas. Lots of them.
