100 Women We Love Class of 2010
A Houston, Texas native, Annise Parker has remained close to her roots. She was sworn in as the 61st mayor of Houston in January, becoming only the second woman and first openly gay person to hold that office. She graduated from Rice University and worked for two decades in the oil and gas industry, with 18 of those years spent at the Houston-based Mosbacher Energy Company. For ten years, she co-owned Inklings, a Houston-based independent gay bookstore. Parker was involved in Houston politics for several years prior to becoming mayor, serving six years as a member of the City Council and one six-year term as Houston City Controller. -CB

Sarah Croce
You may have seen Sarah Croce in the lead role in the short film Girltalk (on LOGO) or as Daisy in the new web series Bleeder: This GO correspondent is making her mark on the world of LGBT media production. As a co-owner of Geek Goddess Productions, Croce produces and stars in an upcoming series about two “hot, ass-kicking, female bounty hunters.” Croce’s degree in theatre from the State University of New York at Albany, plus her talent for yoga, stage combat and rugby, landed her spots in a Levi’s Jeans commercial and in Morgan Spurlock’s newest documentary, Freakonomics. “I want to bring LGBT characters into everyone’s household,” she says of her impending media domination. “I want people to see that it’s not wrong or disgusting, but beautiful and human.” -EI
