The WNBA dynasty has revamped its logo while paying homage to the legacy of the franchise.

The iconic WNBA dynasty is officially back. 18 years after folding due to lack of ownership, the Houston Comets are back and rocking a brand new look.

WNBA fans will remember the Comets reign, winning the first four championships in WNBA history with icons Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes and Tina Thompson leading the way. After their triumphant time in the league, the financial devastation of 2008 folded the organization and left Houston without a team.

In 2024 however, Houston Rockets owners Tilman Fertitta submitted to the WNBA to revive the Comets franchise. Fertitta agreed in 2026 to buy the Connecticut Sun and relocate the franchise to Houston where they would take on the revered name.

Now, the Comets have revealed the look they will debut in the upcoming 2027 season. Embracing the red, blue and white of the legacy team, the logo features an “H” with a basketball comet shooting through it, referencing the team’s original comet logo, and features four stars, referring to the franchise’s four championship wins.

While the Comets will be sporting a new look, the team will still be made up of former Connecticut Sun players and staff, with the Comets confirming that Rachid Meziane will remain the head coach. The Comets offered every member of the Sun’s organization the opportunity to relocate to Houston. Houston has a chance to snag a first round pick in the next WNBA Draft and will find out its fate in the order on November 15 at the Draft Lottery.

At the unveiling ceremony, all three members of the Big Three, Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swooped and Tina Thompson, were there. With that type of legacy in their corner, it will be exciting to see what the returning iconic team can bring to this league.
