100 Women We Love 2006

Meet the class of 2006

Christine Vachon

Working with her production company Killer Films, Vachon has produced numerous independent films that received commercial success, including A Home At The End Of The World, Far From Heaven, The Notorious Bettie Page, One-Hour Photo and Chelsea Walls. While many of the films her company helps produce have LGBT themes, such as Velvet Goldmine and Boys Don’t Cry, Vachon said the most important part of her job is “making films with filmmakers of unique vision and helping to nurture that process no matter how long it might be.” Last fall, Killer Films celebrated its 10-year anniversary. She also co-wrote a book called Shooting to Kill: How An Independent Producer Blasts Through The Barriers To Make Movies That Matter. Vachon is a native of Manhattan.
