Katherine Acey
“The work I do at Astraea supports groups refusing to accommodate an unjust reality,” says Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice Executive Director Katherine Acey. Acey has been with Astraea for 19 years and involved in feminist/progressive philanthropy for 25. Astraea’s mission involves funding lesbian-led, trans, LGBTI and progressive organizations. Through-out the years, Acey has been honored by the Women’s Funding Network for her leadership in building a multi-cultural women’s funding movement, as well as by The Funding Exchange, Cross Cultural Black Women’s Studies Institute and the NYC National Organization for Women. From her beloved 30 year home base of Brooklyn, she travels the globe, enlightening the world on issues of philanthropy, sexuality, race and class. –JB
