The unique event, Bride Pride, will offer women the opportunity for to get married in a group ceremony. This annual lesbian gathering includes more than 150+ events, but is best known for its exciting nightlife and their annual clambake, a tradition which started in 1984. Most importantly, the gathering serves as a safe and welcoming place for women of all different walks of life to get together and enjoy themselves. For all these reasons and many more, Women’s Week is the absolutely perfect time to get married.

The owners of the venue and the organizers of Bride Pride, Allison Baldwin and Ilene Mitnick, had a specific goal in mind when they put together the event stating, “If there are at least 100 couples, the brides will become part of recorded history.” The duo has applied to The Guinness Book of World Records in an effort to capture the title for “World’s Largest Lesbian Wedding.” Mitnick chose Provincetown as the location for Bride Pride for a very specific reason, explaining, “Provincetown is filled with stories of love, equality and adventure and it’s meant to be shared with lovers.” The nuptials will be performed by Kate “Mad Vow” Clinton everyone’s favorite comedienne and lesbian icon. Clinton is clearly excited to be involved saying, “Nothing says World’s Largest Lesbian Wedding like Provincetown and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

After the ceremony, the whole town will turn into party central as the newlyweds join thousands of women in hundreds of events planned for Women’s Week. Baldwin says, “It’s the perfect backdrop for a wedding. We wanted to create an amazing experience at a fraction of the cost of a traditional wedding. It will be the coolest wedding setup ever with events leading up to and following the event and, oh, the whole planet is invited.”

A big fan of the Bride Pride festivities, Provincetown Director of Tourism Tony Fucillo says, “Events like Bride Pride remind us all of another great day (June 26, 2013) when the LGBT community filled the streets across the country to celebrate the defeat of DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act).” As an added bonus, Baldwin and Mitnick will be making a contribution to GLAAD in honor of those who will marry at Bride Pride.
