Jean-Pierre made Black queer history as Biden’s press secretary.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the first LGBTQ+ White House press secretary, is set to produce the thriller, Terroir — a film in development.

The film “follows a migrant farmworker and a disgraced wine critic drawn into the dangerous world of a prestigious family vineyard,” The Advocate reports.

Jean-Pierre served as press secretary under former President Joe Biden for the last two-plus years of his term.

She was also the first Black woman and immigrant to hold the role.

The Advocate reports that the film is still in development and was written by Jesse Harris.

“In Terroir, a charismatic winemaker is determined to preserve his family’s legacy. The farmworker and wine critic uncover disturbing secrets, but people intent on keeping the truth buried try to stop them,” The Advocate reports.

Harris will also direct.

“People may see politics and filmmaking as completely different worlds, but I actually see a lot of overlap,” Jean-Pierre told the publication. “The biggest difference is that behind the White House podium, you’re responding to events in real time and communicating under intense pressure. Filmmaking is a longer creative process.”

She added, “But at their core, both are about storytelling, bringing people together around an idea, and connecting with an audience in a meaningful way.”

Jean-Pierre made waves after leaving the Democratic Party in 2025 due to what she said was poor leadership. She released her memoir, Independent: A Look Inside a Broke White House, Outside the Party Lines, also in 2025.
