The Very Best of NYC Comedy

April 20, 2012

Homo Comicus: Born Funny, Girls Gone Hilarious/Homo Comicus, 1st Annual New York Boylesque Festival, 2012:We’ll All Be Dead By Christmas

Homo Comicus raises the roof this summer with two hilarious shows featuring the funniest gay and lesbian comics to hit the mic. Head down to the Gotham Comedy Club on May 2 for Homo Comicus: Born Funny to see a gaggle of great gay comics doin’ what comes naturally, with the wild and wonderful crowd-slayer Jessica Kirson headlining. On Jun 6, kick off Pride month with Girls Gone Hilarious/Homo Comicus, when fabulously funny females will be bustin’ out all over. The bill features killer queer comics Poppy Champlin, Jami Smith Thirsty Girl Productions and Daniel Nardicio present the 1st Annual New York Boylesque Festival, heating the East Village to the boiling point Apr 27-28. Proving that burlesque isn’t just for women anymore, the event includes more than 30 amazing boylesque performers from around the world. The festival kicks off with its Teaser Party at the sexy Prohibition-esque venue Tammany Hall. This soiree is hosted by The World Famous *BOB*, who’ll serves up a platter of boylesque performers to tempt your palate for the weekend! Rev your engines for the following night’s Main Event at the Chelsea hotspot Rebel, hosted by NYC’s big-tittied honky soul mama, Sweetie with 20-plus performers sure to bring the sizzle.

On May 11 at Joe’s Pub, spend your evening with Miss Richfield 1981 in her very special show, 2012: We’ll All Be Dead By Christmas. The Midwestern beauty titleholder offers a celebratory take on the impending rumored apocalypse, and gets us Armageddon-ready through songs, videos and audience activities. Dedicating her life to the friendly citizens and responsible merchants of her hometown of Richfield, Minnesota (“where butter is a spice and gravy is a beverage”), Miss Richfield 1981 is winning over audiences around the country with truly hysterical performances that combine homespun warmth with edgy improv.
