U.S. Women’s Soccer Teammates Ali Krieger And Ashlyn Harris Just Got Married

December 30, 2019

Congratulations, Ali and Ashlyn!

Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris, celesbian couple and teammates on the U.S. women’s national soccer team, are officially married! Between tying the knot and winning the World Cup, this has been quite the year for “Krashlyn.”

People reports that the couple held a ceremony in Miami on Saturday, Dec. 28. They were surrounded by friends and family, including teammates Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Abby Wambach, and others.

Harris says she’s excited about the positive impact of their relationship on LGBTQ representation.

“I’m so excited to have this type of platform to have this type of visibility to be seen as a gay couple and it be accepted and it be important,” she told People ahead of the wedding.

“This will be the first time in our relationship where all of our friends, all of our family are going to come together to be one and to celebrate us on a completely different level,” she added. “I think so much of our support from our family and friends have been through soccer and this is just so much more meaningful, in my opinion, to be celebrated for love and acceptance and inclusion, that’s so major in the world we live in now.”

The couple announced their engagement in March 2019. They first met while playing for the U.S. National Team in 2010, but they held back on confirming their relationship for a while.

“You’re always fearful of that — you never know how people are going to react, and you might lose fans, or lose respect,” Harris explained.

“But in the end, we had such a great outpouring of just love and acceptance, and we’re so grateful for how we’re continuing to progress and move forward in society, and being accepted for being authentically who we are.”

The only downside of their beautiful wedding? They have to postpone their honeymoon to attend the 2020 Olympics. Casual, NBD.

Congratulations, Ali and Ashlyn!
