Our favorite poet couple Megan Falley and Andrea Gibson have announced their engagement on Instagram.
In a post made over the weekend, Falley opened up about her decision to ask Gibson to marry her. “a couple of weeks ago, andrea and i were night-driving in my convertible, singing shania twain’s ‘you’re still the one’ to each other, perhaps too earnestly, at the top of our lungs. it meant something to me that, after over seven years together, the love songs only feel more true,” she wrote.
“so i did what any smart femme would do,” she continued. “got down on one knee and asked my most favorite person if they’d let me love them forever. they said yes.”
The message was accompanied by a photograph of Falley on one knee proposing to Gibson in a wooded patch with light-bejeweled trees and an illuminated sign reading “Marry Me.”
Gibson also announced the engagement on their Instagram, telling followers that Falley proposed on their birthday in what was “beyond beyond beyond the most beautiful moment of my life so far. Seven years of learning and growing together and this last year has gifted us both a hundred PHDs in the fiercest kind of love. My heart has never been more open. I’ve never seen more clearly.”
They continued, “And there is no one I’d rather be looking at in this life than Meg. She is my wildest dream come true. I’ve not stopped crying happy tears. Love is magic.”
Both Falley and Gibson are celebrated spoken word performers and writers. Together, they co-wrote the book, “How Poetry Can Change Your Heart.”
Earlier this month, Gibson – an ovarian cancer survivor – announced the cancellation of their fall tour following news that their cancer had returned. In a message to fans, Gibson said that they are seeking treatment but are “taking things sort of day-by-day right now.”
