Lesbians Rejoice: Ellen Degeneres Is Returning To Stand-Up

“December 18. I’m back.”

Big news, lez internet! After 15 years, Ellen Degeneres is returning to stand-up comedy. Netflix just dropped the trailer for her upcoming stand-up special “Relatable.”

“Everyone’s favorite Ellen won’t be using her daytime voice in this one. Relatable, Ellen DeGeneres’ first stand-up special in 15 years, streams December 18, only on Netflix,” the trailer’s caption reads.

Some of you baby dykes might not remember Ellen as a stand-up comedian before she become one of the nation’s most beloved talk-show hosts, but she began her career as an emcee and comedian. She got her start doing stand-up in the 80s, on stage in clubs on her hometown, New Orleans. In 1996, she released a comedy album, Taste This. Her comedy special Here and Now, premiered on HBO in 2003 and then she appeared in other HBO comedy specials, winning her multiple Emmy awards. Stand- up comedy gave Ellen her start.

It seems that “Relatable” will be a bit more ~edgy~ than Ellen’s humor we all know and love on The Ellen Degeneres Show. She says in the trailer, joking about service animals on planes, “You’re walking down the aisle to your street, which is 10B or whatever, and it’s like Noah’s ark – there’s a woman with a ferret, there’s a man with a mongoose, there’s a lady with a donkey.” She then adds, “I say 10B – does a plane go back that far? I’ve never been back there.”

We at GO absolutely adore Ellen and all the strides she’s made for our community (you know she lost her sitcom after she came out, right?), all the laughs she’s given us, and the true kindness she’s put into our world. Ellen uploaded the trailer to her Instagram with the simple caption “December 18. I’m back.” We can’t wait.
