MUNA’s Tour Bus Catches Fire In Burbank
The Gets So Hot Tour had an unexpected diversion on Monday.
MUNA’s tour took an unexpected turn after their bus caught on fire in California on Monday morning.
The band confirmed the news via Instagram, sharing a screenshot of them standing on the highway, as captured by KTLA. “the band MUNA as seen on the news this morning,” they wrote. “many personal items were lost but we’re all safe, thank goodness.”
According to reports, the bus driver didn’t immediately realize the bus had caught on fire, but was ultimately able to pull over on the freeway. Although the bus appeared to sustain significant damage, it was evacuated safely and the fire department was able to put out the fire.
“Shout out to the @burbankfireca for saving us,” band member Josette Maskin posted via Instagram stories.
MUNA had just performed at Stanford University the night before the fire as part of their ongoing tour—awkwardly named the Gets So Hot Tour—with their next show scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado.
The incident took place less than a month after MUNA member Naomi McPherson returned to the tour. McPherson previously missed the opening dates to be with their mother as she was dying of cancer.
“if anyone could help me find the grandchild of the warlock whose curse is wreaking havoc on my life so that i can carry em up the mountain & fulfill the prophecy / undo the curse that has befallen me that would be much appreciated,” they commented on the band’s Instagram post.
After Colorado, MUNA is scheduled to take part in Chappell Roan’s Super Graphic Spectacular in Los Angeles on October 22. Let’s hope they can finally catch a break and everything will be relatively smooth sailing for the rest of their tour!
