Rotating offerings for lgbtq+ individuals looking to move, breathe, connect, and heal.
For Daya’s Yoga for Queer Bodies Saturdays Em will begin class with a collective discussion around the astrological movement of the stars, and the ecological season we are in. Community members will then be invited to set an intention for their practice as Em facilitates breathwork and gentle movements leading into a forty minute asana practice. The asana practice will end with a ten-fifteen minute visualization meditation. Following the visualization meditation Em will offer a period of reflective artmaking in the form of poetry or visual arts. Community members will also be invited to stay in an extended state of rest, or gather in smaller groups to discuss their reflections.
Em (they/she) is a yogi, artist, and gardener who moves from a trauma informed center. As an interdisciplinary creative and mover, Em intertwines art marking and visualization meditation within her yoga classes and workshops. As a yoga teacher Em hopes to create a space where students feel comfortable greeting their body where it is and embracing their personal yoga journey with curiosity and self-compassion. Em holds Hatha and Trauma Informed yoga certifications, as well as a Bachelors in Visual Arts and Masters in Poetry and Community Engagement.
