Wyo. Senate Rejects Anti-Gay Bill

The Wyo. Senate on Wednesday rejected without debate a bill that would have shut down the state’s recognition of same-sex marriages performed elsewhere

The Wyoming Senate on Wednesday rejected a bill that would have ended the state’s recognition of same-sex marriages performed out of state.

Lawmakers voted to 16-14 to shoot down the measure, which, according to The Advocate,  “had previously been pared down by excluding language that said gay and lesbian couples in marriages or civil unions from other states would be allowed to resolve disputes in their relationships (like divorce) in the courts.”

The Wyo. House had hours earlier voted 31-28 to approve the bill, but the measure is now dead after several attempts at negotiations between the state House and Senate.
