Video Of The Day: The Gal Gadot And Kate McKinnon Makeout Sesh Seen Round The World

Gal Gadot and Kate Mckinnon

This SNL sketch gave us flannel, lesbian yearning, and the Gal Gadot kiss that sent sapphics spiraling.

With the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary show just around the corner (note: it will air Sunday, Feb. 16, from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock), we’re celebrating some of the most memorably sapphic moments from the sketch comedy juggernaut.

Back in 2017, Saturday Night Live delivered “Themyscira,” a sketch that perfectly captured the eternal lesbian question: “How is an island full of gorgeous, muscle-bound women not a gay utopia?”

Starring host Gal Gadot, the skit follows Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant as two flannel-clad, extremely hopeful lesbians who wash up on the shores of Themyscira—only to realize that, despite being an island full of beautiful warrior women, it is shockingly heterosexual.

After a thorough exploration of lesbian stereotypes, the sketch features a kiss that instantly became part of lesbian pop culture history.
