Women’s sports fans are used to showing up for their teams. Now TOGETHXR is asking them to show up for their communities.

This month, the media company and sports community launched TOGETHXR For Good, a nationwide effort turning women’s sports bars into donation hubs for local food banks. The campaign responds directly to rising concerns about gaps in SNAP and WIC access, which have left families across the country struggling to secure essentials. As TOGETHXR states on its site, “Families across the country are losing access to essential food and supplies, and we refuse to sit on the sidelines.”

Rather than wait for policy fixes, TOGETHXR is leveraging women’s sports bars, which have skyrocketed in popularity. “We’re partnering with women’s sports bars nationwide to turn fan-filled spaces into an active network of support,” the group shared. “Through food drives and local campaigns, we’re helping stock food banks, support families, and rally communities around something bigger than the game.”

The campaign spans 16 participating bars from coast to coast. Some are already beloved staples in their queer and sports communities, while others are newer but rapidly growing anchors for women’s sports fandom. The participating locations include 1972 Pub in Austin, TX; The 99ers Sports Bar in Denver, CO; Babe’s in Chicago, IL; Marsha’s in Philadelphia, PA; Rikki’s in San Francisco, CA; Rough & Tumble in Seattle, WA; Set The Bar in Omaha, NE; Side Peace Sports Bar in Houston, TX; The Dub in Kansas City, MO; The Sports Bra in Portland, OR; The W Sports Bar in Cleveland, OH; The Summitt in Arcata, CA; Untamed Spirits in Los Angeles, CA; Watch Me! Sports Bar in Long Beach, CA; Whiskey Girl Tavern in Chicago, IL; and Wilka’s in New York, NY. Each venue will host food drives and community events designed to make giving easy for regulars and newcomers alike.

TOGETHXR has set an ambitious target for the campaign: collecting 25,000 pounds of food and engaging 10,000 total participants by January 4, 2026. To get there, the organization highlights four simple ways to get involved. You can pledge your support, donate supplies, donate time, or donate money. For those donating goods, the recommended items include essential staples such as rice, dry beans, grains, flour, cooking oil, instant potatoes, canned fruit, soups, nut butters, oatmeal, pasta, cereal, baby formula, and similar foods. Hygiene and household necessities are also encouraged, including toothpaste, pads and tampons, soap, deodorant, diapers, wipes, thermal socks, pet food, and paper bags with handles.

Women’s sports bars have become cultural centers for queer fans and allies who historically lacked inclusive spaces to gather. By connecting community care with sports fandom, TOGETHXR For Good taps into a network where mutual support is already woven into the culture. It is an effort built on the same values that drive women’s sports communities to begin with: solidarity, collective action, and showing up for one another.

Whether you’re a regular at one of these bars or new to the field, TOGETHXR is encouraging fans to contribute in whatever way they can. Donations, volunteer time, and financial support all move the campaign closer to ensuring families have what they need.
