The Best Queer Red Carpet Looks From Oscars Weekend

While the Academy Awards were undeniably straight this year, queer celebs still served on the red carpets at the Oscars, the Elton John AIDS Foundation party, and the Vanity Fair after-party.

If you were hoping the 2026 Academy Awards would deliver a particularly queer ceremony…well let’s just say the pickings were slim.

Aside from a few blink-and-you-miss-them moments—like ballerina Misty Copeland’s striking performance inspired by Sinners and the usual smattering of queer stars scattered through the crowd—the show itself didn’t exactly feel like a celebration of LGBTQ+ arts.

In other words: the ceremony itself? Not exactly a rainbow-flag moment.

But thankfully, Oscars weekend is much bigger than the broadcast. Between the red carpet, the glamorous Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, and the famously exciting Vanity Fair Oscar Party, queer celebrities, lesbian icons, and the internet’s favorite heartthrobs still showed up and dressed like they knew exactly who they were doing it for.

Though the show wasn’t particularly queer, the fashion absolutely was.

Below, the queer icons, lesbian power couples, and scene-stealers who actually made Oscars weekend feel a little bit gay.

Abby Wambach & Glennon Doyle

Our favorite lesbian power couple showed up in coordinated tailoring, because lesbians love a good suit—and Doyle carried a sparkly black clutch that simply read “F*ck ICE,” which is honestly the hottest accessory of the night. (2026 Oscars red carpet)
