The iconic sports bar dedicated to showing only women’s sports is on a winning streak!

You get a women’s sports bar! And you get a women’s sports bar! Everybody gets a women’s sports bar! The Sports Bra, the first-ever women’s sports bar located in Portland, Oregon, is making history once again. After making headlines in 2022 as the world’s first sports bar dedicated exclusively to showing women’s sports, according to the bar’s website, The Sports Bra is now the first women’s sports bar to become a franchise.

On Tuesday, June 3, The Sports Bra announced it will be expanding to four cities: St. Louis, Indianapolis, Boston, and Las Vegas! These new locations will join the original Portland location to become the “Starting Five.”

“Since opening its inaugural restaurant in Portland, Oregon, in 2022, The Sports Bra has changed the channel on the traditional sports bar experience by only televising women’s sports,” Founder and CEO Jenny Nguyen (above, left) says. “Now, thanks to inspiring women athletes, enthusiastic fans, and an ever-growing demand for inclusive spaces that support and celebrate women and girls in sports, The Sports Bra is expanding its impact to cities across the U.S.”

Since the announcement of these new locations, an Instagram account has been created for each new bar in that city. The Sports Bra explained that each bar will be locally owned, operated, and curated specifically for that location, which means fans will get to support their hometown teams and businesses.

“We’re serving fans nationwide who are hungry for spaces that not only champion women’s sports, but create a community where everyone feels like they belong,” says Nguyen. “There is no better moment than this to open these places.”

Women’s sports fans from St. Louis, Indianapolis, Boston, and Las Vegas will now get to enjoy some delicious food and drinks while cheering their favorite teams on! This exciting announcement has once again proven that this is more than just a bar expansion—it’s a movement to create equal viewing opportunities for athletes and fans who have been left out of the traditional sports bar scene.

If your city was one of the lucky ones selected for this expansion, make sure to follow your city’s Sports Bra Instagram page to stay updated on location details and opening dates! Nguyen says opening dates will be announced as franchise owners secure buildings in each city. In the meantime, let’s appreciate this historic win in sports bar franchise history!
