This Lesbian Couple Celebrated Their Nuptials In A Very Unique Way

In the middle of the pair’s vows, they went down to the aisle, stood together, and deadlifted 253 pounds.

Lesbian couple Lisa Yang and Wek Hernandez got married recently, and they celebrated with a very unique couple’s activity: deadlifting. In the middle of the pair’s vows, they went down to the aisle, stood together, and deadlifted 253 pounds. They even painted the weights rainbow!

And just when you thought their nuptials couldn’t get any gayer, the pair not only deadlifted the weights once but THREE TIMES. Three! Times! If you think that sounds insane, you’d be right. But each member of this powerlifting couple could easily lift the 250 pounds by herself.

“It was meant to not only be a symbol of unity, but also a statement: ‘Individually we are strong, capable women, but together we are stronger,'” Wek said in an interview with Women’s Health.

“Weightlifting to us is very special,” Wek continued. “We lift with our local team in Brooklyn. They’re family to us, and the whole weightlifting team was at our wedding.”

While some people may not love the way the couple celebrated their union, Lisa and Wek are beyond thrilled with their decision to lift down the aisle.

“I was just so happy and in the moment!” Hernadez said. “I mean, we were deadlifting in Prospect Park in wedding gowns pressing our love. It was awesome!”
