Apr 5–6, the 15th Annual Original GLBT Expo takes over Javits Center. This is a huge milestone anniversary for the LGBT Community and the loyal sponsors, exhibitors and attendees that support the Expo. Blending business with entertainment, the expo features a microcosm of the world’s professions—including business, healthcare, art, education, fashion, travel, legal, financial—in an exciting business-to-consumer marketing environment. This year’s event features performances by The Glamazaons, Sister Funk, France Joli, Ptah Brown and Josh Zuckerman, among others. Don’t forget to stop by the GO booth!

March 17 at the Marriot Marquis, the “impossibly glam” Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards hits New York for the 19th time. This famed awards event recognizes and honors mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives. This year’s ceremony honors Brian Graden and Judy Shepard, and nominees include TV show Work Out!, films Across the Universe and Itty Bitty Titty Committee, and musicians The Cliks and Melissa Etheridge.

Warm up the last chilly days of winter with Winter Heat, a sizzling annual fundraising event for the Empire State Pride Agenda, the organization winning equality and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender New Yorkers and their families. Mar 13 at Touch Nightclub, join ESPA for a sexy, sophisticated night of dancing and mingling while supporting the fight for our community’s rights.

Mar 11, OP/LYNX invites you to take a culinary excursion for their 2nd Epicurean LYNX Dining Social of 2008. The cuisine at Chow Bar is described as Asian: Southeast, Chinese and Southern/Soul, advancing standard dishes to another level of experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, contemporary and friendly. Socialize and network while enjoying a sumptuous prix fix meal at this gathering of out professional women.

Mar 20 at the NYU Cancer Institute, join experts on lesbian healthcare to discuss how to break down barriers to healthcare and increase cultural sensitivity in The Lesbian Cancer Experience. Learn about risk factors for cancer, and the importance of early detection and screening from an expert panel of presenters.

Mar 13, in another event addressing cancer in the lesbian community, The Center presents The Lesbian Cancer Initiative’s Health & Pleasure Fair: Promoting Women’s and Transgender Health and Well-being. The Lesbian Cancer Initiative offers a free evening of pampering, health information, and screening for all LBT people. Come to learn more about health issues of concern to our community, including the importance of risk reduction, early detection, prevention, wellness, and recovery, as well as support services, insurance, and healthcare options. Enjoy refreshments, entertainment, door prizes, free massage therapy treatments and more.
