Gabby Williams Praises Partner Marine Johannès’ Support Amid WNBA Win
The two were so cute during the Golden State Valkyries’ championship parade.
While the Golden State Valkyries are celebrating their historic win, Gabby Williams is winning fans over with her own celebration of her girlfriend, Marine Johannès.
The Valkyries scored their first-ever championship by defeating the Atlanta Dream in Game 7 of the WNBA finals last week. Their celebration has continued off the court, culminating in a parade through San Francisco on Wednesday, November 4.
The celebration was extra meaningful for Williams, who was named the 2026 WNBA Finals MVP. And during the parade, she made a point of calling out the role Johannès’ support played in the team’s path to victory.
“My partner, who spent the entire finals with me,” Williams said as the crowd cheered. She explained that Johannès helped with her “mood swings” and got her ready to go out and play her best game, adding, “We don’t win if she’s not here, everybody.”
While it’s unclear exactly how long the two have been together, they met while playing for the French national team in 2021 and their relationship became public during the WNBA All-Star Weekend in July 2025. Johannès herself currently plays for the New York Liberty, and scored a career-high of 27 points earlier in the season.
Williams scored an impressive 30 points for the Valkyries in the championship game, 28 of which were in the second half. In other words, whatever Johannès did to hype Williams up certainly seemed to do the trick.
Fans kept a close eye on the two throughout the parade, sharing clips of them being sweet together and celebrating the win with the rest of Williams’ team.
The win itself was a huge deal, as the Valkyries are only in their second season as a team. Their arrival as an expansion franchise reflects the rapidly growing popularity of the WNBA and recent years, and taking home the trophy in year two has now set the tone for the Valkyries—and their fans—for years to come.
