Brooklyn LGBT Wedding Expo, Broadway Bares, SAGE, Masq, Holiday Under the Stars

Brooklyn Community Pride Center will hold its 2nd annual Brooklyn LGBT Wedding Expo at the historic Brooklyn Borough Hall Jan 13. This year’s expo will prominently focus on Destination: Brooklyn and encourage attendees to utilize the exceptional services of the Brooklyn business community when planning their LGBTQ nuptials. The expo is expected to draw thousands of guests and will be attended by more than 100 vendors serving wedding needs such as hotels, banquet halls, caterers, florists, rental and travel agents, lawyers, financial advisors and planners. The event will also feature honeymoon packages and elaborate giveaways from regional and national sponsors as well as a silent auction of merchandise redeemable from local businesses.

Kick off the Broadway Bares season with Broadway Bares: Winter Burlesque, a fully staged version of last summer’s Fire Island Pines sensation Beach Burlesque, at the XL Nightclub Jan 27. Heating up New York City when we all need a little warmth, Broadway Bares: Winter Burlesque will feature more than 25 of Broadway Bares’ hottest dancers to bring you a striptease spectacular sure to cure the winter blahs.

If you need a cure for that cabin fever, head out to the SAGE Women’s Dance on Jan 21. The dance returns to the LQ Club, popular for its spacious dance floor and comfortable areas for socializing with old and new friends. DJ Susan Levine will provide the music, including new dance rhythms as well as the old-time favorites for dancers of all ages. As usual, the dance raffle offers a chance to win money and prizes. Proceeds benefit SAGE, Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders.

Beat the winter blues and join the Young Leaders Council on Feb 2 for Masq, the sexiest LGBT masquerade ball of the year. The Bowery Hotel plays host to an evening of elegant dress, mysterious masks, decadent drinks and old-fashioned mayhem. Proceeds will support the New York City LGBT Community Center’s diverse array of programs and services for the LGBTQ community.

Grab your smart friends and head out to Pat’s New Year’s Resolutions: The Ultimate Pop Culture Trivia Night with your host, NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan, at the Highline Ballroom Jan 8. It’s a brand new year, and to kick off 2013 on the right foot, Pat is once again testing your pop culture knowledge—this time, with a focus on New Year’s resolutions. In an extremely entertaining and high-energy trivia contest covering everything from TV to movies, celebrity news to music, come show off all you know about the world’s greatest fad diets, extreme makeovers, workout crazes, religious rebirths, celebrity bad habits, famous career changes, epic transformations, ultimate weight loss and much, much more!

One of the most popular holiday attractions in the Big Apple, Holiday Under the Stars at Time Warner Center features twelve 14-foot stars that hang from the ceiling of the 150-foot Great Room. The stars are lit by the largest specialty crafted display of illuminated color mixing in the world. This must-see display is choreographed to traditional holiday music, providing a holiday atmosphere unlike any other in New York. The stars will be up through Jan 3.
